Dear Donators, Before we’ll close this donation platform, we wish to thank everyone! With your help we finally reached our aim: to prevent the mining project of the Chinese company Mikgro Metal Perdana on Bangka Island / North Sulawesi. With its verdict 255 k/TUN/2016 dated August 11, 2016 the Indonesian Supreme Court (Mahkamah Agung) ruled that the production permit granted to the company in ignorance of its first verdict 291 K/TUN/2013 which had annulled the exploration permit is now cancelled. The court complied to our sue in all stages. The Chinese company being protected by the former provincial governor and the former Minister For Energy And Minerals had started construction works on the island. Together with you we are proud of this great victory for the protection of Bangka island and its unique marine fauna. The island will now be saved exclusively for tourism, fishery and agriculture in accordance with the Indonesian law. We hope that the current government sticks to its commitment to manage the island in a way that its wealth will be still enjoyed by coming generations.
