Mayawaki Forest in Rabindra sarobar besides the National Lake Bank
A Miyawaki forest has been established within Rabindra Sarobar, Kolkata, near the Ma Phire Alo Museum, at Gate No. 3.
This urban forest, part of an initiative to fight climate change, utilizes the Miyawaki method to create a dense, diverse forest in a relatively small area.

About the Miyawaki Method:

The Miyawaki method, developed by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, involves planting native tree species close together to create a dense, multi-layered forest.

This method allows trees to grow up to ten times faster than in conventional planting schemes, reaching a height of about one meter per year.

Miyawaki forests are known for their high biodiversity and ability to absorb more carbon than traditional woodlands.

Rabindra Sarobar's Miyawaki Forest:

The Rabindra Sarobar Miyawaki forest is described as a "jungle" created with various types of trees.

It's noted that the trees have grown significantly in just two years.

The area is popular with bird watchers and nature enthusiasts.

Additional Information about Rabindra Sarobar:

Rabindra Sarobar is a lake in Kolkata known for its biodiversity and is a popular spot for recreation and nature walks.

The area is home to various bird species, insects, and other wildlife.
