TWO KEY UPDATES

UPDATE 1: COMMUNITY MEETING – SAVE THE DATE!

The Developer has finally agreed to a Community Meeting as recommended by the Council at the Public Hearing on April 4, 2023.

The hearing is to allow the community to ask the developer questions about the development, as well as ask the developer why they have not made any changes to the proposal based on the feedback from the community, the City Council, and the Planning Department.

The capacity of the venue is limited, we will be setting up a registration process shortly and we are looking at live streaming options.

Thank you to Mario Racco - Vaughan Regional Councillor for working with the developer to get them to agree to a date and venue. And thank you to Councillor Chris Ainsworth for his continued support for the community in this matter and confirming that he will be attending the Community Meeting.

UPDATE 2: ONTARIO LAND TRIBUNAL (OLT)

The developer has chosen to bypass the City of Vaughan and to straight to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT).

The initial OLT Case Management Conference (CMC) Video Hearing is scheduled for June 11 at 10am.

We are reviewing our options and are meeting with law firms that specialize in these types of OLT cases.

Having legal representation comes at a high cost, however, legal representation will provide the best chance of a positive outcome with the OLT.

We know there is strong opposition to this development within the community, and we will need the community to contribute financially. We will be setting up a fund-raising site – more details to follow shortly.
