Please share a link to the petition and thanks to Councillor Merrill Witt

We are nearing 200 signers on the petition in less than a week but we need more signers to present the strongest case to Woollahra Council to reverse its decision. Please share a link to the petition with anyone you know who might support this cause.

Also a big thank you to Councillor Merrill Witt who was the only Councillor to vote against Woollahra Council's decision to introduce other sports to the Trumper Park tennis centre.

Merrill has outlined the reasons for her vote in her latest newsletter and has helpfully included a link to the petition. This is what she wrote:

"Council resolutions to call for expressions of interest in tenders for the multi-sports repurposing of two of six courts at the Trumper Park and Lyne Park tennis centres respectively

I voted against both of these recent Council resolutions because I don't believe that Council should be moving forward with plans to repurpose tennis courts for other sports before conducting extensive consultation with the local community. 

Like the Cooper Park Tennis Courts, the Trumper Park Tennis Courts are set in an idyllic spot - a beautiful, leafy green amphitheatre surrounded by residential properties. In the United States, some councils have been asked to remove their pickleball courts because of complaints about excessive noise and damage to tennis courts. A petition has been established to preserve Trumper Park tennis courts for tennis use only."
