ACTION NEEDED NOW!
Dacey Proposes Boundary Amendment to Allow Development West of I-270
Council Member Dacey has just proposed an amendment to the Sugarloaf Plan allowing development on the west side of I-270, exempting a developer’s properties from the Plan’s preservation goals (see the map below). Allowing dense development west of I-270 is a break from the historical boundary between dense development and the existing rural, agricultural community.
The amendment will be discussed and may be voted on at the Tuesday, 9/13 County Council meeting.
Take Action Now! The County Council needs to hear from you before they vote tomorrow.
Council Members Fitzwater and Keegan-Ayers have not stated their positions on the boundary. We cannot yet count a majority in favor of the I-270 boundary. They need to hear from you again. Now. See contact details below.
Please send the Council Members a quick email:
- Urge them to vote against the amendment returning to the July 2021 Plan boundary (Rt. 80 and Thurston Road).
- Urge them to support preservation from the Montgomery County line, along I-270 to the Monocacy River.
Attend the meeting if you can, wearing a green shirt. Here’s a link to the page where you’ll find the meeting agenda.
