We're Starting to Get Some Answers! AND CEC6 meeting today - join by 7:45PM (hybrid)

Hi all,

Today, all PS/IS187 parents got an email about the expansion from the school leadership! 

It is a good step forward, but the information is vague... Some questions that come to mind:

• Why is the building at 140% capacity? 
  Who took part in the meetings discussing alternative options?
• Which alternatives have been considered, and why were they rejected?
• Where are all the meeting minutes?
• What was the process of getting community feedback?
• What is the expected square footage of the addition?
• Where is the addition planned, and how will it impact the current pre-K-3 playground and soccer pit? We want to see the plans.
• How will the construction impact the students', teachers ', and staff's health (noise and dust pollution)
• The schoolyard is used as a "cafeteria" for middle school students; how will they have lunch during construction?
• The schoolyard is used by the after-school program; will the program be canceled during the construction?
• Is the cost increase (from $61M to $113M) earmarked?

Please come to the CEC6 meeting today. The meeting starts at 6:30 PM, but the topic will be brought up during the Public Comment Session (at around 7:45 PM). The meeting will take place at P.S. 48, P.O. Michael J. Buczek School | located at 4360 Broadway, NY, NY 10033.  Better to come in person, but if you cannot...
