Hi, everyone!

It's Cari: I wanted to let you know that we now have an astounding 1,032 signatures! I can't believe we have reached that number in just one week's time. It is clear that the community greatly cares about what is happening on the SFASU campus, and I think that matters. Thank you so much for your support!

After a meeting I attended this afternoon, there were a few things in my original write-up that were brought to my attention that might need modification. My goal is to continue advocating for this cause with the correct information to back it. I have made some slight amendments, which I will outline below:

  • The nutmeg hickory was reportedly not dedicated to Dr. Galan.
  • The campus is no longer listed as a Tree Campus due to a clerical issue.
  • It is estimated to be as late as December (maybe not as early as July) when staff and students will have to relocate from the Forestry Lab. My sources were not sure.
  • I removed the statement of my opinion of the placement being "counterproductive" to UT's goal to grow the Forestry program and increase because it was said that the Entrepreneurship building can potentially promote the forest products industry and thus relates to it.
    • Of course, you are welcome to form your own opinion of that potential.
  • With all being said, I still believe in advocating for responsible campus growth that considers the interests of the Nacogdoches and SFA communities.

If you have any inquiries, I can be contacted at carimitchell419@gmail.com. Thank you again for supporting this cause and please continue to share if you feel compelled to. I greatly appreciate your time and regard for this issue.

-Cari
