Subject: Strategic Alliance Southern Barossa Winery and Tourism Project (SBWTAP) EIS Submission
You can use this as a template to help shape your own submission:
I strongly oppose the Southern Barossa Winery and Tourist Accommodation Project (SBWTAP). I endorse the “Preserve and Protect Barossa” submission (https://PreserveAndProtectBarossa.org/PreserveAndProtectBarossa-SBWTAP-Submission.pdf and share its concerns about building a huge resort on protected rural land in a very high bushfire risk area, with serious traffic, evacuation, water, housing, small business and landscape impacts, and risks to the Barossa’s future World Heritage prospects.
There are much better places for large-scale tourist accommodation. A major new project is due to be lodged in January 2026 for Château Tanunda, within the Tanunda township, where it can use existing roads, services and infrastructure. Building in townships reduces greenhouse emissions from travel, is closer to a designated bushfire safer place, and avoids protected rural and significant landscape areas, while still delivering strong tourism and economic benefits.
So I respectfully ask the Minister for Planning to refuse planning approval for SBWTAP.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to protecting the Southern Barossa, from the proposed tourism resort, on protected rural land in the foothills of the Barossa, it is much appreciated.
