Thank you for your continued engagement regarding the Southern Barossa Winery and Tourist Accommodation Project.
The Environmental Impact Statement will be published for review on Wednesday, 5 November. Once released, it will be available for public exhibition and comment until Wednesday, 17 December. I will share the direct links when they are live.
Hard copies will be available to view at:
Department for Housing and Urban Development, Planning and Building: Level 9, 83 Pirie Street, Adelaide (please call the PlanSA Help Desk on 1800 752 664 beforehand to confirm access and visitation arrangements).
The Barossa Council’s Lyndoch Branch Office and Library, Barossa Valley Way, Lyndoch; and the main office of the Barossa Council, 43-51 Tanunda Road, Nuriootpa.
Your feedback will play a pivotal role in the project’s assessment. Further details on the submission process and suggested responses will follow shortly.
The key project-specific assessment requirements include:
- Environmental impact and scale of the project within the Character Preservation District and Significant Landscape Protection overlay
- Bushfire risk and emergency evacuation
- Existing tourist accommodation capacity
- Groundwater, surface water, and wastewater impacts
- Land tenure, protected areas, and land use
- Transport and traffic
- Visual amenity
- Waste management (refuse)
Copies of submissions from the public, councils, and other relevant agencies will be provided to the developer, Strategic Alliance, who will then prepare a Response Document to address matters raised during the public exhibition period.
At the conclusion of the assessment process, public submissions will be published on the Plan SA website, with personal details redacted.
Following submission of the Response Document, the State Planning Commission will prepare an Assessment Report, which will be provided to the Minister for Planning for consideration.
