Last week I took my little guy to see the Sterling Chinkapin Oak tree and tell him about the history. (And that it was even older than Captain America! This beautiful tree dwarfs him; he's in the teeny black sweater to the left)
I couldn't help but think of the Native Americans who may have had their little ones touch the same tree, then the settlers who farmed the area, along with the first residents of Sterling Heights... and now us. I hope my little man can bring his own kids here someday to visit the very same Chinkapin Oak.
City Council meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. there is strength in numbers! Come respectfully make your voice heard!
(I have a correction for my last update. Deana Koski and Maria Schmidt both voted against the apartment complex and destroying the tree. Liz Sierawski changed her vote from 'no' to 'yes'.)
