As I sit here this morning looking out my windows at the rain, I am grateful to be here in Lake Ridge...grateful for so many things! What a beautiful place our community is. There is nothing else like Lake Ridge, anywhere.
My husband and I lived in a tract home in Grand Prairie for 30 years. We worked on that house to make it a home and saved our money thinking that one day, we'd build a dream home to spend the rest of our lives enjoying. With a lot of sweat equity, that dream came true for us. Does this story sound familiar? Did you do the same?
THIS IS WHY WE ARE ASKING YOU TO HELP US SAVE WHAT WE ALL LOVE SO MUCH.
I have been truly moved by the stories I have heard from so many people in our community from all walks of life who have done the EXACT SAME THING. We LOVE it here. We love the trees, the wildlife, the peace, the QUIET. It is reward for years of working, saving, and dreaming.
And now, a dishonest, self-serving city council has made a decision (by keeping us in the dark, then not listening to our opposition) to put a nightmare of a planned development RIGHT NEXT to us. They do not care. They see dollars and frankly, a lot of them are feeling "pretty righteous" about this action.
It is said that a picture is worth 1000 words. Look at this illustration...this is REALITY. They LIED about what this community will look like. See it for yourself. Are you really okay with this?
They don't see Lake Ridge as a jewel in the Cedar Hill crown, a place to dream about, a place to love. Instead, they are going to allow 80-100 year old trees to be ripped from the ground, wildlife to lose their homes, pollution, and noise right next to a beautiful one of a kind community. They have made assumptions about who we are and how we live. Is this how you want to be represented?
Do you want to LET THEM WIN?
PLEASE DON'T TURN A BLIND EYE TO THIS. DON'T THINK THAT SOMEONE ELSE WILL STEP UP AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY.
IF YOU DO NOTHING, IT WILL HAPPEN. IT WILL BE REALITY FOR ALL OF US.
We still have a chance to CHANGE THIS.
We will be filing an injunction before the close of this week to HALT this action.
We will be working to RECALL every city council member. Their representation has been dishonest and self-serving. They think we won't do anything.
