Hello friends, our efforts to save Connelly Mill Park are beginning to take hold! We nearly lost this amazing place with its unique elevations, wetlands, watersheds for the Wicomico River, and acres of forested green space last year when it was removed from the Capital Improvement Plan. Even worse, despite the ecological significance and presence of old growth areas of forest, this place almost became an off road vehicle venue.
Through a citizen petition, letters from our most respected Environmental Organizations and sustained efforts by volunteers to raise awareness, we stopped these destructive events and now Connelly Mill Park is back for consideration to be restored to this year’s Capital Improvement Plan! Together we can accomplish amazing things!
Still, we are not over the finish line yet. We need a strong show of support at the Public Hearing for the CIP on Wednesday, November 13th 6pm in the Flanders Room of the Wicomico Civic Center. Please come and voice your support! If you are unable to attend in person, please write to County Executive Giordano and express your wish for Connelly Mill Park to be included in the CIP. We would also love to hear the voices of those beyond Wicomico as this Park was on the Tri County Council’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy and it was meant to be for the entire Lower Shore!!
If you're unable to attend in person, here is the email for County Executive Giordano jgiordano@wicomicocounty.org or if you'd like a pre-written message click here and hit send!
