Petition updateSave our farms and rare wetland from mega-developmentMunicipal Election Tomorrow - A Watershed Moment for Midhurst & Springwater

Midhurst Ratepayers' Association
Oct 26, 2014
Our municipal election is tomorrow - a day that will shape the future of Midhurst and Springwater. This is a watershed moment for us. We have strong, smart candidates that are willing to take on this mess and preserve our farms and wetlands, but we have well funded opponents - mainly, the developers and some like minded candidates.
Our mailboxes are routinely bombarded with flyers and our local newspapers plastered with ads from the developers. They have told everyone that we lie, that we overstate the ramifications, that we are fear mongering NIMBYs, that WE are an enemy of democracy. Even our township spent taxpayer money misrepresenting a statement that the Premier made about the MSP. The people of Midhurst and Springwater have faced every opponent possible during this election; still we stand strong as ever. We will not be bullied into submission; we will not give up our community without a fight.
If you live in Springwater, please ensure that you vote and truly consider the candidates that we have endorsed to lead us out of this mess and save Midhurst, our wetlands and our farmland. Here are the candidates that we have endorsed:
Mayor - Bill French
Deputy Mayor - Don Allen
Ward 1 - Katy Austin
Ward 2 - no endorsement made
Ward 3 - Connie Spek
Ward 4 - acclaimed (Sandy McConkey)
Ward 5 - Jack Hanna
The choice is simple: Vote for candidates that want to see change and listen to the citizens or candidates (mayor/deputy mayor) that have led us into this disaster.
If you don't live in Springwater, please keep us in your thoughts and perhaps the good guys will prevail. :)
