Recently, the Comprehensive Flood & Water Management Council sent a letter to federal Minister McKenna in response to issues with the Springbank dry dam project, currently undergoing environmental assessment, and promoting awareness of the Tri-River Joint Reservoir of Alberta project.
This letter was written in direct response to a letter sent by a well-funded and influential Calgary group, strongly advocating for the Springbank project. Regardless of how you view the Springbank project, there are some very serious and unaddressed issues with this project: it could be held up for years until these are addressed. The prudent and reasonable thing to do is start a feasibility assessment on the TRJR now to confirm that this is indeed a viable upstream solution. We need an upstream solution!
A link to our letter is included (https://www.preventingalbertafloods.ca/write-a-politician/) , scroll to the bottom of the page – please feel free to use our letter as a guide and send a letter to your MP, MLA and City Councillor, as well as our Alberta Ministers (Mason and Phillips) and federal Minister McKenna.
Thank you for your support – we need to speak up and have our voices heard!
