On Wednesday I was invited to the Legislature to watch the tabling and submission of our petition to the BC government. See video clip. Thank you so much for caring about this issue. You can rest assured that your voice was heard and that our request for a new international framework for the governance of the transboundary watersheds in northwest BC and southeast Alaska is being considered. In no way is our work done. This region of our province continues to be threatened by mining and related industrial development on a potentially massive scale. We have to keep reminding our leaders about this little known and little talked about, but exceptionally important and precious wilderness area of BC. Stay tuned for next steps, and in the meantime, take time to celebrate this small but important step toward securing the future of the wild border of BC and Alaska.
