I have just returned from cotton farmer George Bender's vigil at the Queensland Premier's office. A strong crowd turned up to pay their respects and add support that this tragic situation should never happen again. Frustratingly, the Premier was nowhere to be seen. She is still not talking. Meeting with Senator Glenn Lazarus, he told me that he had signed our petition earlier today, and that he had personally met with the Prime Minister this morning to move this situation forward. Even the Prime Minister is going to pick up the phone to call the Premier! Thank you again for everyone who has signed our petition and called the Premier's office. I believe there was a huge influx of calls to her today. I'm so humbled by you good hearted people with a sense of justice. You have helped us soar to nearly 40,000 signatures for George in the first 24 hours. This is your voice! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK with sharing this petition to your networks, but we obviously need even more pressure on the Premier. Warmest thanks, Jodi.
