Hi supporters!
This has been a HUGE week!
Now, the Tasmania Law Reform Institute (TLRI) is seeking public feedback on possible reforms to Tasmanian law to combat conversion practices!
The TLRI released its Issues Paper, ‘Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conversion Practices’ for public consultation.
The paper and online survey form can be accessed here.
People with any experience or knowledge of conversion practices in Tassie can anonymously, confidentially or publicly record what happened or is happening - with or without commenting on the legal parts of the inquiry. Responses will be very important to show that the practices do occur and are harmful and hopefully encourage the Government and Parliament to enact strong laws to combat them.
To put your experiences on the record go to https://www.utas.edu.au/law-reform/news-and-events/tlri-news/conversion-practices and click on “Make a submission to this inquiry online”; when you are prompted select the option to make the submission ‘as an individual’.
Make sure to answer the first 3 questions, after which you can skip to the end or do the rest of the survey if you choose. Just make sure to complete the survey by selecting your option of anonymous/confidential/public submission. (email them to Law.Reform@utas.edu.au or via post to Private Bag 89, HOBART TAS 7001)
All submissions must be received by 7 January 2021.
