Dear supporters,

So much has been happening over the last few months and I can finally do an update about it all!

On Friday 31st August (Wear It Purple Day) I posted very large packages to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Health Minister Greg Hunt, Bill Shorten and Michael McCormack. They contained printouts of the signature list (just over 42,500 names!) along with an open cover letter. The cover letter and petition signature count was also sent to the Health Ministers in each state and many other politicians all over Australia.

The cover letter was put together collectively by survivors of the gay conversion movement. We have named it ‘The SOCE Survivor Statement’ (SOCE - Sexual Orientation Change Efforts). It includes a list of recommendations to the government. We had the statement and recommendations endorsed by an impressive list of community leaders and organisations including Amnesty International Australia, ACON, PFLAG, Thorne Harbour Health and many others.

The SOCE Survivor Statement now lives on a website www.SOCEsurvivors.com.au where you can read the entire document and also affirm it. (Please do this!)

This has been a huge undertaking, but I believe it is a powerful statement that asks the government to ensure a multi-faceted approach to dealing with SOCE in Australia. YOUR signatures on this petition have helped survivors to have a voice, and I sincerely thank you for signing, sharing and continuing to support the campaign. This petition is still running, and I hope we can make it to 50,000 signatures soon!

I ask you to visit www.SOCEsurvivors.com.au to read, affirm and share the statement.

Thank you!

Chris
