Hi supporters! Thank you for all the support you continue to give this campaign. We’ve made some great strides, including receiving official support from Federal Labor, Tasmania Labor and the ACT government. Last week I had the privilege of speaking on the phone with one of the MLA’s in Canberra who is working on the legislation regarding gay conversion therapy in the ACT. We had a very productive conversation about what gay conversion therapy is and what it looks like, including the involvement of churches in referring people to these formal and informal ‘services’. He wants to speak to people who have been through gay conversion therapy in the ACT to help make sure the legislation is effective. I told him that I would send out a message to all of you asking for people to come forward. If you have experienced gay conversion in the ACT in ANY form - that includes formal and informal ministries, therapy, prayer groups, coercion (being told you are broken and need fixing through prayer or celibacy or anything else), OR of you know of any of this currently or recently occurring in the ACT, please contact me at endgaycures@gmail.com with your contact details and a brief summary of your experience (if you are comfortable). You can speak to him confidentially. This has nothing to do with the media. It is purely for him to get a better understanding in order to work out how this can potentially be dealt with in legislation.
