Queensland Health Minister Hon Dr Steven Miles has added his voice to the growing concern over Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt’s lack of action over gay conversion therapy, saying, “Instead if defending the rights of advocates for this kind of therapy....Greg Hunt should be working with us to outlaw this kind of vile, vile behaviour.” This echoes what Shadow Minister for Health Hon Catherine King said in a statement in response to this petition last week: “I’m writing to let you know that Labor stands with you, Chris Csabs and the medical experts in opposing gay conversion therapy...two Turnbull Government ministers – the Acting Prime Minister and the Health Minister – have now failed to condemn the practice when given the chance.” As Federal Health Minister, Greg Hunt should be working with the states to outlaw gay conversion therapy nationally. Since Queensland’s Health Minister has spoken out, now is the time to ask Health Minister’s in each state to similarly voice their support for action. Please write to the Health Minister in your state, telling them why they need to work towards outlawing Gay Conversion Therapy and asking for them to condemn the practise publicly.
