Hi everyone! Thank you all for helping us get to 31,000 signatures! Numbers are still climbing so please keep sharing the petition as much as you can. Last week I reached out to Health Minister Greg Hunt to let him know about the petition and to invite him to talk with me about it. So far, he hasn’t responded. I’m writing this update to ask for your help. If each of us would email Greg Hunt outlining our support for this petition and the reasons gay conversion therapy should be nationally banned - especially for minors - he is more likely to pay attention. Email Greg via Greg.Hunt.MP@aph.gov.au Gay conversion therapy is a practise that has been condemned by respected health organisations worldwide, including the World Psychiatric Association, the Australian Medical Association and the Australian Psychological Society, just to name a few. Gay conversion therapy is unethical, ineffective and extremely damaging, often leading to depression, trauma, mental health issues and sometimes even suicide. This has recently led to law reforms in several US states and banning it is also currently being discussed in the UK. It’s occurring in Australia in counsellors offices and within religious groups.
