An incredible day. The news of the last hostage, finally home. The body of Ran Gvili has been recovered and returned to his family in Israel for burial.
On October 7, Ran was a 24 year old off-duty police officer who chose to head into the battle to defend Israeli communities. Ran was killed and his body taken hostage by Hamas, one of the 251 Israelis and foreign nationals taken hostage, alive or dead, on that terrible day.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ran's parents and family at this time. And with all the family of Israel for whom each hostage is like a son/daughter. May the wound in a traumatised nation's soul begin to heal.
May Ran's homecoming be another step towards a final end to the Hamas-Israel war in Gaza and the building of a better future for all.
We hold Ran's family in our hearts and prayers at this time.
