The above link gets you to the government advice around access to bus lanes. Recent govt. consultation was about to make motorcycle access to bus lanes the default position avoiding the sort of nonsensical decisions made by Portsmouth City Council.  However, the UK election sadly got in the way of that being made law. 

I have requested that Cllr Standlish provide the results of the PCC consultation around this decision (as the govt recommends consultation) and I've yet to hear back from him. Now this may just be a delay in responding or perhaps it's because no consultation was undertaken by PCC at all. 

I will keep you posted of any progress on this.
