Justice for Jason Washington: Tell Portland State to #DisarmPSU NOW!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 15,000!

On June 29th, 2018 Portland State University police officers Shawn McKenzie and James Dewey brutally murdered Jason Washington, a Black man deescalating a fight outside of the Cheerful Tortoise bar on PSU's campus. The officers collectively shot at Jason 17 times, and struck him nine times. This came after a five year struggle where PSU students, staff and faculty, in large numbers, urged the PSU administration and Board of Trustees to not have armed police officers on campus. This turned into a call for disarmament when those in charge at PSU defied these wishes in June of 2015.

JASON WASHINGTON DID NOT NEED TO DIE. He should be alive right now, and it is in his name that we continue this fight. Please sign this petition to show the Portland State University administration and the Portland State University Board of Trustees that the time is now to:

2. Fire officers Dewey and McKenzie!

3. Erect a permanent memorial to Jason on our campus!
