The bishops tell Catholics that gays and lesbians "must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided," (CCC 2358). But then the authoritarian bishops turn around and fire hundreds of teachers who support or who enter into same-sex civil marriages. Meanwhile, the wise and reliable bishops remain silent and do not challenge the duplicity of their wayward "brothers." What???!!! This is why we need to have a test case--like Rosa Parks.
