We need a more diverse Creative Arts curriculum in Fiji High Schools

We need a more diverse Creative Arts curriculum in Fiji High Schools
The Issue
Art classes lead to success in school, work, and life. Creative Arts education provides students with the critical thinking, collaborative, and creative skills necessary to succeed in today's ever-changing world. Yet, despite the impressive benefits of arts education, our research has concluded that High schools in Fiji does not have a diverse creative arts curriculum due to lack of funds and skilled teachers.
We believe that Creative Art Education should be included in the curriculum as part of a well-rounded education, just like reading and math. Our research indicates that only 2% of the High Schools in Fiji offer dance classes, 25% offer a music class which combines with the Physical Education class (PEMAC), and only 1% offer dramatic arts class.
Together we can convince School Leaders and Policy makers, that arts education can be a solution to lackluster student performance, truancy, and discipline problems and must also be eligible for Government funding
Take action today by signing this Petition and tell our leaders to encourage Creative Arts as part of an Integrated Education system in High Schools.
Let’s raise our voices to show that we value a well-rounded education for all students.
