It is unfortunate that more or less every government scheme, every government building, most of the public places are named after one dynasty (the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty) in India. When it comes to government schemes, it can still be accepted since they were the Prime Ministers of the country and designed the policies.

However, can we justify the fact that the highest Sports Award in the country is named after Rajiv Gandhi, and not after any sporting legend ? The other sports awards - Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award (for coaches and trainers) are named after the greatest archer and the greatest guru, why do we have the highest sporting award named after Rajiv Gandhi, who had no relation to sports ?

The highest sports award must be named after one or the other sporting legend who is famous all over the world, and who else than Major Dhyanchand could be a better choice ? We, the citizens of India, request you to change the name of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award to Major Dhyanchand khel ratna award.

We welcome the step that government has taken to name all the airports after the places, and not after persons. Our country is home to thousands of saints, warriors, kings, scientists, leaders, sportsmen, farmers, soldiers, educationists and noble souls who have worked selflessly for the country. Hence, everything being named just after Pt. Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi belittles the contribution of others to India.

We hope that the Prime Minister Office takes cognizance of the matter and gives a befitting tribute to Major Dhyanchand who is an all time legend and the greatest hockey player ever.
