Solar import duty to be cut by 50%!

Nearly 1.5 years after I filed the petition and requested for roll back on solar import duty the Govt. is finally waking up. It is considering a cut of solar import duty from 40% to 20%.

It has realized that India cannot rely on domestic manufacturing alone.

It is also planning to reduce GST from 12% (currently) to 5% on solar energy devices. 

It's a welcome move but there was no need to increase these two in the first place. Hopefully the Govt. becomes more proactive in hearing from the stakeholders before making important decisions like these.
