A BIG THANK YOU !

It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that the Government has finally taken a progressive step towards Solar development in India.

Out of the 2 regressive steps announced previously i.e. ALMM & BCD (Basic Customs Duty - 40% on PV modules & 25% on PV cells)., the Govt. has deferred the implementation of ALMM till 01st Oct 2022. This was originally planned to be implemented from 01st April 2022. In a last minute development the Govt. made an amendment to the previous order announcing the same.

What does it mean for ordinary Indian citizens like you and me?

  1. We are free to choose any make and technology of PV modules for our rooftop & ground Solar project for our factories, homes, commercial complexes.
  2. Solar will continue to become increasingly affordable thanks to market-driven pricing which will benefit the end-users the most considering immense competition.

While BCD still remains a concern, we are confident that this would be deferred too in the short to medium term. This is required ONLY till Indian module and cell manufacturers are geared up to meet the domestic demand.

While we rejoice in this victory, our job is not done as yet. This deferment is only till 01st Oct 2022., post which the Govt will again dictate on what you could use in your Solar project.

For now though, I am extremely thankful to you for your support in the form of signature + sharing this petition. Trust me - your 5 minutes have contributed to Nation Development in a BIG WAY !

Let the sun shine bright on all of us and on the Solar industry in India.

JAI HIND !

Best Regards,
