Dear Signers,
Thank you for your support. I am hopeful that my father’s memorial will soon be renovated, and Gujarat will remember to honour its fallen heroes. Although, as of now, the signs are not encouraging.

We’re having to wait a lot. The politicians in Gujarat are busy with campaigning for the upcoming elections to the state assembly, so it seems like all developmental work has ceased. This memorial being located in a remote spot doesn’t help much.
It’s distressing that a memorial that honours the legacy of Balwantrai Mehta, Gujarat’s second chief minister, a freedom fighter who spent seven years in prison during British rule and widely regarded as the architect of the Panchayati Raj system, is lying in such a neglected state.
Kutchmitra, a local Gujarati daily recently reported on this memorial’s history and relevance and mentioned our campaign as well.
A lot more needs to be done though. I’m trying to work with the locals in Suthri village, who can help me publicise the issue and highlight this memorial’s broken state to the relevant authorities.
The incumbent MLA from Abdasa, Pradhyumansinh Mahipatsinh Jadeja, in the Kutch district of Gujarat, should ensure that this memorial is renovated urgently, and not wait till the end of state elections, as if it will be a favour to the people if he’s voted back to power.
My father’s memorial has suffered years of neglect. I hope Shri Jadeja will honour the legacy of our fallen heroes and prioritise the renovation of this memorial, before his current term ends.
