There is a pending case in NGT about filed in 2014 about serious lapses by PMC in matter of sewage treatment. On May 31, 2016, NGT had put very serious remarks about working of PMC on this issue. Following are the details copied from NGT order - "Had PMC and MPCB taken this issue seriously to conduct spot inspection or examine fact situation the things would have been different. But, what we notice is there is total deviation from those proceedings and PMC tried to give vague excuses for none functionality of the STPs and unmatched collection of sewage and its disposal." "Today, we find PMC is totally at blank and seems to be totally lost for the reason it is confused about its own stand on STPs and capacity of 567 MLD. When we asked about nine points answer we have is no answer." Because no proper details were furnished in NGT by PMC and MPCB, a fine of Rs.2 Lakh was slapped on both dept.s This shows that the issue of sewage can be solved only through very strong public pressure. Please make everyone around you aware about the dire situation and ask them to be a part of the petition!
