THE THEME TODAY IS FOOTBALL.
Today is a big day for FOOTBALL fans as they crowd around televisions to watch the Super Bowl. There will be lots of excitement and snacks enjoyed.
Now let’s KICK OFF my Facebook post with some FOOTBALL idioms. The most restrictive Community Treatment Order in Canada was legislated in P.E.I. It will mean that few mentally ill patients will qualify. Why did the PC Party choose this option?
I am afraid that the PC Party did not KEEP A CLEAN SHEET, avoiding mistakes with flawless execution. The present CTO could actually put patients at risk, causing harm to themselves or others, should they come off their medications.
It is my belief that the PC Party did not have a solid well thought out CTO GAME PLAN. I have been in THE THICK OF THE ACTION, diving in headfirst and advocating for the mentally ill on P.E.I.
A CTO amendment in the 2024 spring session would be a GAME CHANGER for those that suffer with a mental illness. The CTO amendment would be a STRONG DEFENCE against mental illness deterioration. It would allow patients TO BE IN GOOD FORM in the GAME OF LIFE.
There is no SUBSTITUTION for a flexible CTO like New Brunswick has. It is considered the best in Canada. It pays to KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE CTO BALL, and then you will realize that the mentally ill on P.E.I. have been SHORTCHANGED. Islanders deserve the N.B. CTO model!
I do not plan to TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. Mama Bear will never give up the CTO amendment battle. I will GO THE DISTANCE. It is my plan to get the CTO FOOTBALL BACK OF THE NET, SCORING A GOAL for the mentally ill on P.E.I!
A community treatment order ensures that a mentally ill person stays on their medication and provides them with a healthy life in the community. P.E.I. now has a CTO, but it is so restrictive that Andrew and many others will not qualify.

The present CTO is like giving a battery operated truck to a child without the battery. And saying, "The truck is good enough for now, I will give you the battery to operate it after "24" months." The P.E.I. CTO is as useless as this!
In my opinion, I do not believe that the PC Party Ministers and MLAs realized the negative impact the restrictive CTO would have on Islanders, like Andrew and others. I believe in my heart they will amend the CTO in the 2024 Spring Session, because it is the RIGHT THING TO DO!
