SOOOOO, baby is due in 19 days and we are still no further along than when we started with our Permanent Residency case.
We have only 12 weeks left until our visas expires and we are very much facing the reality that we may have to leave our whole lives of almost 10 years in Australia behind, to head back to the UK with a newborn and start all over again.
We finally got a response from Minister Tony Burke’s office, only to be informed that we should ‘try again after the election’, due to the minister being in ‘caretaker mode’ whilst the election is ongoing.
Whilst this wasn’t entirely bad news because it wasn’t a ‘no I won’t help’, it does leave us playing with time we don’t really have. It took over 12 weeks for us to get this response, and if it takes the same again, then it will already be too late for us.
Good news is that a friend Leon Rebello @leoneebellolnp won the election to be local MP for our area McPherson, congratulations Leon!! Hopefully with a bit more power behind him, we can make even noise in front of the minister Tony Burke.
If you haven’t shared our petition already, then please, PLEASE do! We are so close to 10,000 signatures and the more we have, the more weight our case holds when Minister Tony Burke comes to look at our case.
For more inside scoop on how Lewis and I are coping, check out our recent podcast episode of ‘The Disgustingly Healthy Relationship Podcast’ on Spotify, where we share the full inside story of what life looks like for us right now, and the impact navigating visa uncertainties is having on us:
Thank you so so much again to everyone that has already signed and shared, you’re amazing!!
Asides from bringing our precious baby earth side, let’s see what the next 12 weeks holds for us.
Regardless, we remain hopeful xo
