Unfortunately the predicament we're all in now is that Shawn has found a loophole that allows him to still "rage" on National Forest land. The relationship between outdoor users and the National Forest has always been murky all across the country. It's easier to ban whatever activity is raising concern rather than addressing that issue head on. That's why it's extremely important that we try to work parallel to the forest service in trying to deal with Shawn in a proactive, sustainable way for climbing out at Meadowcamp Picnic area. Shawn would love nothing more than to get climbing banned out at Meadowcamp.
Rather than filing complaints and concerns to the federal government, maybe contacting Shawn's probation officer will have a bigger more lasting impact. I know I sure don't feel safe having Shawn out there. If/when we reinstall the new anchors out at Meadowcamp, will Shawn be out there looming with a hammer ready to strike?
Considering he's currently serving a 5 year probation sentence relating directly to the destruction he is causing throughout Central Oregon right now, perhaps his probation officer would like to hear the impact he's making on the community.
