Yesterday’s community meeting at Columbian was a success! CBS4 and FOX31 were there to make sure parents voices were heard. Thank you all who were able to attend and those who made sure it was known what Columbian means to you. However, our fight is not over. The plan to unify Columbian with Trevista will be presented to the Board of Education on November 3, 2022. That means we have 6 more days to let the board know how much we support the Columbian community! Now through November 3rd is the time to get your emails sent to the board members to let them know Columbian has your full support. Dr. Marrero is asking for support of school closures. We do not agree that closing Columbian and packing children into classrooms because a building is bigger is the solution. We support children having a school that thrives on creating community and connection through the arts. We support educators that are creating engaging, challenging, and exciting learning experiences that expands their student’s view. We support children having the opportunity to have more one-on-one time with their teachers. We support small schools with BIG hearts! We support Columbian!
Denver 7 has also asked for opinions regarding Dr. Marrero’s request for support of the closures. Please share your thoughts regarding the matter at the link below and let Dr. Marrero know we don’t support decisions being made for the greater community by people who never asked the scholars, families and educators of the community what would be best for them.
