Following a meeting last Friday with the leader of Waverley Council, Paul Follows, along with Cllr Adam Clark who was putting forward the very significant environmental reasons why this wide pathway is a bad idea, Paul personally intervened this week, using his executive power as leader of the council, to squash this application completely. Surrey CC, who's initiative this is, will have to look for an alternative route for the Surrey Cycleway that will not cross the Phillips Memorial Park at any point.
