We have reached 446 supporters, but we need more. The recent events in Turkey highlight the importance of having open governments. Wikileaks has recently published (https://wikileaks.org/akp-emails/) thousands of AKP e-mails. AKP, or the Justice & Development Party, is the ruling party of Turkey and is the political force behind the country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Wikileaks, and his founder Julian Assange, do not force a political idea or agenda, they simply bring to the attention of the people matters that would otherwise be kept secret. Information is fundamental for freedom, and freedom is fundamental for peace. Recent images of hundreds of people, half naked, being the target of punishments without proper trials, and the dozens of people killed in the attempted coup in Turkey, should be a reminder that information and open government are more than ever necessary. To fight for free information, Julian Assange has lost his own freedom, and once again I hope you will all try to get more people to sign this petition, so that we can achieve freedom through information, and peace through freedom.
