All speakers endorsed the Hawthorn to Box Hill Trail at the community meeting on Thursday 27 August 2026.   You can read a presentation and summary of the meeting [here].

Items discussed included: 

• Boroondara and Whitehorse Councils are jointly advocating the Victorian Government to get a project team formed within the Department of Transport to progress design and implementation.
• The preferred alignment of the route is following the railway line easement.
•  Details in the Feasibility Study need to be used as a starting point for design work.
• VicTrack has refused access to Boroondara Council Officers to make measurements
• A bridge over the Yarra next to the Hawthorn/Bridge Road bridge is likely to provide the connection to the Main Yarra Trail and bike friendly routes in the City of Yarra.
• There is very strong community support for the trail but people need contact their elected
  representatives to build momentum.
