Due to the fact that our voices didn’t matter to Kentucky’s legislators and they preferred to listen to a couple of big money groups rather than the 85-90% of Kentuckians who were in support of the bill, I am now closing this petition. But, before I do, I have one last very important message for you.
As some of you may know, we have formed a Facebook Group called UNITED Against Dog-Fighting, to which each and every one of you are invited to join. Through this group, we will be working toward getting the legislation passed in the next General Assembly, which will take place next January through March. We will continue to work diligently toward the goal of saving the lives of the poor tortured animals of our state who, by no fault of their own, have been forced into the horrific and illegal blood sport of dogfighting! We are going to raise awareness throughout our state. We are going to find ways so that everyone in our state knows what happened and what they can do to change it next year.
However, in order to do all that needs to be done, funding will be needed. On behalf of the group, a campaign was started on gofundme.com in order to raise money to do all that we can to get this legislation passed next year.
All money donated will go towards educating our citizens about the cruel and inhumane consequences of dogfighting. To do that, we’ll produce informational material for television, newspapers, internet, and radio. We want to be everywhere, so people can’t look away any longer. They have to face what’s happening and, once they do, they will be as outraged as we are. We are working towards some well-known personalities to help get the message out that KY has the poorest animal protection legislation in the country. Yet, most Kentuckians love animals and treat them like family members. It is time for our legislators to realize that the majority of KY voices won’t be shouted down by a much smaller number of citizens who fear their hunting rights will be infringed upon if KY does nothing more than every other state in the country has already done.
No amount is too small or too large. I ask only that you give what you can, even if it’s just one dollar. Every cent will be used towards the effort to change KY’s dog-fighting law in next year's legislative session. Every cent will be used to save the innocent dogs and other animals who have no voice. We will be their voice! And, their voices and their stories will be heard! We owe that to all the innocent lives who are being subjected to brutality and eventual death at the hands of some of the sickest minds in our society. This cannot continue if we are to live in a civilized society.
We must stop this. With your help, we WILL stop this.
