Please allow our male family members to attend our Dar Al Hekma university graduation.
The Issue
Graduation is a pivotal moment that marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and personal growth. It is a day of celebration, not only for the graduates but for all those who have supported them through this transformative journey. For many of us, that support has come from our fathers, brothers, husbands, and other male family members. They have been by our side, providing emotional, financial, and personal support, ensuring we succeed in our academic endeavors.
However, at our university, an inexplicable rule is currently preventing male family members from attending our graduation ceremony. This policy diminishes the full significance of this milestone and leaves us with an incomplete celebration. The absence of major family figures, who have been integral to our success, reduces the joy of what should be one of the most memorable days of our lives.
Denying male family members the opportunity to witness and celebrate this achievement alongside us not only marginalizes their essential role but also overlooks the diverse dynamics of family support networks. We are calling on our university administration to reconsider this policy and allow male family members to attend the graduation ceremony. This change would reflect the inclusivity and community values that our institution aims to embody. It would allow us to properly honor and thank those family members who have been instrumental in our journey.
Please sign this petition to support the cause of family inclusion and help us celebrate graduation the way it was meant to be—together.
