Greetings EBN Supporters,

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and your support has helped us turn pain into purpose in powerful ways. Here are the highlights from this month as we continue honoring Eric Nelams and pushing for justice and change.

🎓 Eric Nelams Legacy Scholarship – Class of 2026
We officially launched the Eric Nelams Legacy Scholarship, we'll be awarding two graduating seniors from the Class of 2026 at G.W. Carver High School in Columbus, GA — Eric’s alma mater. This scholarship honors students who demonstrate resilience, leadership, and a heart for their communities.

The scholarship is made possible by people like you. We are currently accepting donations, and every gift is 100% tax-deductible. Our goal is to raise $500 by the end of June to keep this legacy alive and to sow into others.

🧡 Wear Orange Weekend
We proudly participated in #WearOrange Weekend (June 7–9), standing in solidarity with families across the country who’ve been impacted by gun violence. Thank you to everyone who wore orange, posted online, and showed up in support. Your voice matters, and together we’re amplifying a powerful message — lives like Eric’s deserve justice. #WearOrange #gunviolenceawareness

🎂 Eric’s Heavenly Birthday – June 10
June 10 was Eric’s Heavenly Birthday. We celebrated with love, reflection, and a renewed commitment to honor his life and legacy.
It was a sacred day of remembrance that reminds us why this movement is so important. Eric’s life still speaks.

🧱 Homicide Victims Brick Memorial – Columbus Riverwalk
Eric’s name was officially added to the Homicide Victims Brick Memorial located at the Columbus Riverwalk. This lasting tribute ensures that Eric is never forgotten. His name, etched in stone, is a public reminder of the injustice he endured and the accountability we continue to seek.

🚀 Rocket Foundation Event – June 12
Today we had the honor of attending the Rocket Foundation’s Gun Violence Prevention Summit, founded by Quavo of the Migos, in memory of his nephew Takeoff. The event united survivors, advocates, policymakers, and changemakers working to end gun violence through youth empowerment, legislative change, and healing-centered work. Being in that space reminded us we are not alone. There is a growing community of people and organizations committed to the same mission — turning grief into action.
