Over the past two weeks we have been spreading the word about this petition near and far..a paper petition was initiated at the 'Love for Luna' event at Whiteman Park, Perth whereby 600 signatures were collected and then also at the NARD (National Animal RIghts Day) event at Bibra Lake, various veterinary centres, dog friendly cafes, cat cafes, animal rescues centres and kennels/catteries signed and supported across Perth. In total we received 1263 penned signatures for the paper version in just under a week and a half, which definitely shows momentum. Letters were also sent to WA Premier Mark McGowan and DAFWA Minister Alannah MacTiernan to inform them on this petition and how lack of penal enforcement (to fit the crime) issued by the judiciary is a serious animal welfare issue in Western Australia, which needs to be urgently addressed. We will await their response. I have engaged with local Labor MP Lisa Baker who is kindly going to take this petition to the Legislative Assembly and also Alanna Clohesy to the Legislative Council of WA Parliament this week. This is in advanced of Luna's offenders hearing, which is this Thursday. Now we wait...
