PHONE SCRIPT
Hello, my name is [Name]. I’m a veteran and I live in [Suburb/Postcode].
I’m calling to request a meeting with [MP’s Name] regarding recent changes to the DVA prescription medicinal cannabis framework.
These changes will severely restrict access for veterans in this electorate. There are over 7,500 veterans nationally accessing this treatment.
I would like to meet with the Member to discuss how this policy will impact me and other veterans locally.
Could you please advise on the earliest available time for a meeting?

EMAIL TO MP
Dear [MP’s Name]
I am a veteran residing in your electorate.
I am writing to request a meeting with you regarding the recent changes to the DVA prescription medicinal cannabis framework implemented on 16 February 2026.
I am very concerned about what these changes mean for veterans like me. At the moment, if they remain unchanged, thousands of us will be left without safe, regulated pain relief.
In 2024, 7,550 veterans accessed DVA-funded medicinal cannabis.
Research shows, those of us using this treatment experience:
52% of veterans surveyed reduced or ceased opioid use
89% stopped opioids entirely
74% reported improved mental health
DVA does not collect clinical outcomes data for this program yet has introduced structural changes that will force many veterans off effective treatment. We have not been consulted on this change, so as my federal representative, I wish to meet with you about it as a matter of urgency.
Please advise on your earliest availability.
Kind regards
