Re-Release Pixar's Soul in Theatres Worldwide on a Later Date
Re-Release Pixar's Soul in Theatres Worldwide on a Later Date
The issue
This year could've had the shortest wait between the release of Pixar films, and it could've been the first year where a film from WDAS is able to release the same year as 2 Pixar Films. Due to the impact that the Corona Virus has had on cinemas, this unfortunately did not end up being the case, with Pixar's next film Soul getting it's release pushed back to sometime in November, and Raya and the Last Dragon from WDAS now being set to release in 2021.
It's been taking a lot longer then we thought for cinemas to officially be able to reopen, though films are slowly returning to have themselves theatrical releases in the past 2 months, but there's still ongoing delays with when particular movies will be able to release. Recently it had been announced that Soul has been moved to being an Original on Disney+, but it along with all other animated films of this year that came to Digital Media early should eventually re-release in theatres worldwide at some point and some way once COVID-19 has officially passed, especially since Pixar is an Animation Studio that only ever does theatrical films, which was even the case before Disney's Acquisition of them in 2006 when WDAS had sequels to their simply release straight-to-video/DVD from DisneyToon Studios up until 2008, plus the only work that Pixar does to be Originals on Disney+ are shorts and TV Spinoffs. So whenever movie theatres are able to fully return back to normal, both Soul and Onward (which did have it's theatrical run for only about a week or two before theatres worldwide were forced to close) definitely should re-release in theatres worldwide at some point and some way, especially considering all the hard work the creators of those films had done to get them ready for their theatrical runs, and so that those out there who've been able to see every single Pixar film on the big screen since they were born can continue being able to accomplish such.
