For 75 years, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. has championed causes that benefit children. As a national non-profit organization with more than 30,000 family members in 230 chapters nationwide, we provide educational, cultural, civic, recreation and social programs, and support legislation aimed at bettering the conditions of all children. Our support of children begins with their safety and welfare.

As mothers, the members of Jack and Jill of America join the nation in mourning the lives lost due to gun violence from the death of Trayvon Martin and Hadiyah Pendelton to the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary and the countless victims in cities across this nation who are killed with guns every day. In response to these tragic losses, Jack and Jill of America is calling on lawmakers to take action to ensure the safety of our children and our communities. The organization is in support of comprehensive, commonsense, bipartisan legislation designed to reduce gun violence in our communities.

In this spirit, Jack and Jill of America supports legislation that requires background checks on all guns sales, reinstates the assault weapons ban, bans high-capacity ammunition magazines and armor-piercing bullets. In addition we support efforts to increase funding for mental health services to provide treatment for individuals who might otherwise turn to violence.
