Residents Oppose a 121,920 s.f. Storage Building on a 5-Acre Parcel in Palm Harbor, Florida
Over 60 people showed up to a Pinellas County Zoning meeting that was cancelled due to lack of a quorum on June, 13, 2018. Linda Bock, a resident on Missouri Avenue where the proposed storage building would have one of its two entrances, was one of the lucky residents. She received notice of the meeting because she lives within 600 feet of the property. Once she realized that the rest of her neighborhood didn’t even know about the project, she got friendly with neighbors and got the word out. In less than a week, she was able to garner the support of over 100 letter writers against the project and a packed house.
The cancelled Zoning meeting is now rescheduled for Thursday, July 12th at 9 am on the 5th floor of 315 Court Street, Clearwater. Ms. Bock, a resident of Palm Harbor for 16 years, is ecstatic; she has more time to mobilize her community, and they are coming out of the woodwork! She’s garnered the support of a neighbor who is a real estate attorney among others who are banding together. They want to find a use for the parcel that is a benefit to the Community at large, like a dog park or extension of the Pinellas Trail.
People who want to support this cause can sign a petition online at www.bit.ly/NOstoragebuilding or email Linda at 2labock@gmail.com to sign a hard copy petition and get on the group’s email list. They are also encouraged to send an email to ZONING@PINELLASCOUNTY.ORG referencing Case # Z/LU-12-06-18. Stay tuned!
