In doing my research I found a map that represents Central North Carolina. This area includes Charlotte, Durham, Raleigh, Fayetteville. It does NOT include Forsyth County. Are the Airport Authority Board Members forgetting about the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County area? If we allow the Airport Board members to change our airport's name are we stepping on the toes of the other two more major metro areas Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham. Airport authority members, appointed by area governments, say they’ve been discussing this change for months. But quietly, without public input. So public reaction, not surprisingly, is ... unenthusiastic. The Central North Carolina area forms the central third of the state. Due to rapid urbanization over the last 30 years, a significant part of the rural area in this region has been transformed into suburbs. In particular, the cities of Charlotte and Raleigh have become major urban centers, with large, diverse, and rapidly growing populations.
