Imagine going to the supermarket for the weekly shop or to buy your son or daughter’s school uniform and finding – without warning - you’ve got no money to pay to for it. You can’t understand it because you’ve done your best to budget from the money you earn working all the hours you can and when you go to check you find it’s because a company you have never heard of have stopped the £200 monthly tax credits which are your lifeline.

Over the last 15 months, the US-based multi-national Concentrix - working on behalf of HMRC - have turned families lives upside down through its ruthless pursuit of tax credit recipients in the name of saving the Treasury money. In one instance a single mum found the payments which are her lifeline had been cancelled entirely without proof, when she eventually got through to the company after hours waiting on the swamped phoneline they accused her of being in a relationship with a former tenant she had never heard of and that they had sent a letter asking for proof. A letter she never received. These aren’t one-off, exceptional cases – a similar thing has happened to me and thousands of others and they reveal a company on a payment-by-results contract doing everything they can to rake in profit on the backs of single parents and families.

We are asking Philip Hammond to take urgent action now to review the contract and promise not to renew it - our campaign will not stop until he does.

On a daily basis we see people going hungry, no gas, no electricity, can't get to work and can't pay childcare, losing their homes and losing their mental wellbeing.

We only ask that you work with us to bring this draconian contract to an end. These families are being wrongly targeted through tenuous links to previous tenants, their mothers, their brothers, their own children and you have the ability to make a change to people's lives.
