A few days ago clashes between Kurdish forces and the group ISIL/ISIS broke out near Erbil in Iraq. A minority group known as the 'Yazidis' fled in fear into the mountains. An estimated number of 30,000-50,000 are currently displaced in these mountains, where there is little/no access to any food or water. Without IMMEDIATE aid and help these people risk starving to death or dying of dehydration, as has happened to approximately SEVENTY CHILDREN and thirty elderly already. If they climb back down the mountain, there are extreme fears that they will be met by the slaughter of ISIS and the region's Yazidi community could be wiped out of existence completely.

Indeed the UN representative for Iraq has warned that a 'humanitarian tragedy is unfolding in Iraq', with men being killed, women being abducted, and the vulnerable in society dying of thirst and hunger.
