Florida Gulf Coast University is widely recognized as an environmentally friendly institution. The promotion and implementation of sustainable practice is important in our goal to create ways to ensure a green future. 

This petition promotes the phasing out of plastic straws and replacing them with an environmentally friendly alternative that will be available to all students.

Sustainable alternatives include but are not limited to:
- Biodegradable plastic straws 
- Paper straws
